Intermediate to advanced flameworkers - discover how to use the magic of molten glass to create more beautiful glass beads. After a safety review of the basics, we'll dive right into surface decoration and layering of techniques such as frit, enamels, metal leaf, and reduction. Design and creation of latticino and millefiori, application of dichroic glass, and basic sculptural techniques will also be covered. Experience is required (preferably recent).
I’ll be showing my newest kiln-formed glass pieces at Stonewall Creek Vineyards over the weekend. Choose a glass of the lovely wines that Stonewall creates and then do a little early Christmas shopping!
This advanced-beginner/intermediate class continues where the beginner class leaves off with a variety of techniques for those who are comfortable at the oxygen/propane torch. We will explore metal leaf and foil, enamels, and stringer work. Layering these surface elements will be explored, along with sculptural techniques. Also learn to build latticino and cane as ability and time allow. Recent glass-beadmaking experience is advised.
