This advanced-beginner/intermediate class continues where the beginner class leaves off with a variety of techniques for those who are comfortable at the oxygen/propane torch. We will explore metal leaf and foil, enamels, and stringer work. Layering these surface elements will be explored, along with sculptural techniques. Also learn to build latticino and cane as ability and time allow. Recent glass-beadmaking experience is advised.
Gearing up for the season’s educational series of events - the Southern Highland Craft Guild is excited to showcase the elements of metal and glass on April 6. A range of techniques will be demonstrated in both of the media, as the artists each have their distinct touch and style.
From 10am to 4pm, these master craftspeople will be blacksmithing, glass blowing, lampworking, piercing and soldering metals, knife making, repoussé, copper etching, assembling stained glass, forging and many other artistic processes. Visitors have the opportunity to watch and learn more about two of the original craft media.
I will be exhibiting my glass bead jewelry at the 73rd Guild Fair. My booth will be located on the arena level.
Southern Highland Craft Guild members will exhibit a variety of craft ranging from contemporary to traditional in works of clay, wood, metal, glass, fiber, natural materials, paper, leather, mixed media, and jewelry.
